Trunk and Disorderly is a 2007 science fiction novelette by Charles
Stross. It is about a rich, spoiled man who flounces about the solar
system pining for lost love and great thrills.
Ralph MacDonald Suzuki (yeah û thatÆs his name) is a spoiled, rich,
playboy ancestor of Scottish royalty and Japanese business conglomerates.
This story begins as his robot butler/lover leaves him right before
he engages in a death defying orbital jump with some of his friends
who are also in the spoiled, rich, playboy ancestor club!
Unfortunately he livesà and also unfortunately his robot lover doesnÆt
come back to him like she usually does. Instead he gets a new butler
û one awesome lady who can do anything and everything! ItÆs a good thing
sheÆs so talented too, because RalphÆs sister has asked him to babysit
her foul tempered mini-mammoth and that turns out to be quite a handful.
Anyway, as Ralph, his butler and Jeremy the mini-mammoth rocket off
to Mars for the after-jump party (hosted by the fabulously rich and
decadent Abdul, in his mansion of a thousand rooms!) they stumble upon
a coup of sorts, and bravely (or not so bravely) decide itÆs up to them
to save not only their lavish way of life but lives of lots of lavish
people as well!
