Description:

This book develops several novel foam-filled structures and steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich structures, which provides more alternatives for ensuring the safety of buildings and infrastructures under extreme loading, like impact and blast. In the first part of this book, the aluminium foam- and polyurethane foam-filled structures have been developed for dissipating impact and blast energy. Experimental and numerical studies have been conducted to obtain their behaviours under impact loading. In addition, analytical models have also been proposed to assess their energy absorption performances and facilitate the impact and blast design when using the proposed foam-filled structures. In the second part of this book, SCS sandwich structures with novel shear connectors have been developed and their behaviours under impact and blast loading have been experimentally, numerically and analytical studied. Analytical models for predicting the impact and blast responses of SCS sandwich structures have also been developed. In the third part of this book, a new steel-polyurethane foam-steel-concrete-steel (SPUFSCS) panel (i.e. the combination of foam material and SCS panel) has been developed to achieve a higher impact resistant capacity. Owing to the increasing impact and blast threats on buildings and infrastructures, the studies presented in this book are of significant importance for providing several new solutions for impact and blast enhancement.

Description:

This book conducts an in-depth research on robust filtering and fault detection for a class of T-S fuzzy systems. On the basis of the existing research on T-S fuzzy theory, robust filtering theory, and fault diagnosis theory, some new and effective technologies are proposed to solve the problems of robust filtering and fault detection for a class T-S fuzzy systems, while overcoming the shortcomings and limitations of the existing solutions.
This book introduces new design solutions for a class of T-S fuzzy systems to address the existing problems in the research of robust filtering and fault detection, namely 1) two new filtering methods are explored to obtain better filtering results than the existing approaches; 2) a new event-triggered filtering scheme is proposed for T-S fuzzy systems with bounded disturbances, which realizes that the designed observer gains in the absence of event-triggered mechanisms are also applicable to the case with event-triggered mechanisms; 3) two new methods are constructed to deal with the asynchronous problems of premise variables effectively, which overcome the defects and limitations of the existing ones; and 4) an effective fault detection scheme for handling measurement outliers is constructed, which can avoid the occurrence of false alarms.
This book is intended to inspire researchers and engineers, offering deeper insights into robust filtering and fault detection for T-S fuzzy systems, and equipping them with the latest advancements in fuzzy system theory, robust filtering, and fault diagnosis. It also provides valuable theoretical references for engineers tackling practical engineering problems.

Description:

This book provides a direct method based on system solutions to address the problems related to the analysis and control of delayed neural networks. The method proposed in this book is important for the following reasons: It does not involve the construct of any Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF), which overcomes the difficulty in constructing an appropriate and effective LKF; It can provide more simpler sufficient conditions, and hence it possesses less computational complexity; It can result in delay-dependent global exponential stability criteria that can used to give the decay rate estimation of the state; It is suitable for analysis and design problems of most system models with (multiple) delays after a small modification. The book is divided into 11 chapters, and focuses on the analysis and design problems related to delayed neural networks. It is written for graduate students and research level mathematicians and is suitable for postgraduates or as a reference.
