This course will teach you about unique vulnerabilities faced by web-based APIs and the defenses you’ll need to protect them

APIs are becoming increasingly common. They’re used in everything from web applications to smart devices. The more popular they become, the more attention they attract from hackers. If you’re creating an API then you need to know how to keep it secure. In this course, API Security with the OWASP API Security Top 10, you’ll learn to identify and defend against the most common API security vulnerabilities. First, you’ll explore individual vulnerabilities and the potential problems they can cause. Next, you’ll discover how attackers find and exploit those vulnerabilities. Finally, you’ll learn how to add defenses for each vulnerability. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of the top 10 API vulnerabilities needed, to create a secure, resilient API.

Description
API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface, which is a software intermediary that allows two applications to talk to each other. Each time you use an app like Facebook, send an instant message, or check the weather on your phone, you’re using an API.

API engineers design, develop, implement, oversee, and adapt APIs – application programming interfaces – for a number of different types of organizations in business, education, science, and other fields in which data queries are made via internet and cloud platforms.

These engineers usually develop APIs using a technology called REST. REST is an acronym for ‘representational state technology.’ Applications created using this technology are referred to as RESTful APIs. API engineers use RESTful APIs to create any number of individual applications and products for an organization. API engineers code in a number of different computer languages that are portable or non-platform dependent, such as Java, Ruby, Scala, JavaScript, as well as hypertext protocol markup language (HTML) for web pages. An API engineer will write code and incorporate existing APIs into that code, or the engineer may write an original API specific to the organization’s needs.

Because APIs serve a number of different organization types, API engineers also consult with the organization’s experts. For example, an API engineer working for a large retail chain will consult with marketing and sales to develop APIs that are specific to those fields and that particular organization. Engineers are also involved in data security and work closely with data security measures and protocols, such as user access control and token management, to protect both the organization from threats and exploits and the end users from experiencing any type of cyber attack. With cloud services rapidly rising on the internet, API engineers work to make cloud data transfers and tasks more efficient by overseeing the data warehouse as well as ensuring that background tasks perform as expected.

Description
Apache Spark has turned out to be the most sought-after skill for any big data engineer. An evolution of MapReduce programming paradigm, Spark provides unified data processing from writing SQL to performing graph processing to implementing Machine Learning algorithms. It effectively uses cluster nodes and better memory management to spread the load across cluster of nodes to get faster results. Apache Spark drives the mission of data-driven-decision-making in thousands of organizations.In order to fairly appreciate the benefits of the libraries of Apache Spark, it is essential to know the foundations right. This course aims exactly at that part. It starts from the beginner level and gradually explains all the complex concepts in an easy to reflect manner. It gives a profound description of the features and working of the framework through 5 different use cases with detailed hands on implementations. In fact, some hands-on sessions and solutions to the use-cases are explained in a full classroom mode with videos extending over 40 mins. After taking this course, you will gain the expertise on Spark Core and usage of further libraries like Spark SQL, Structured Streaming, Spark ML and GraphX will be much easier to visualize, implement and optimize.This illustrative course will build your foundational knowledge. You will learn the differences between batch & stream processing, programming model, the APIs and the challenges specific to stream processing. Quickly we’ll move to understand the concepts of stream processing with wide varieties of examples & hands-on, dealing with inner working and taking a use case towards the end. All of this activity will be on cloud using Spark 3.0.

Who this course is for:
Data engineers and developers who wish to leverage the fast analytics using Apache Spark in production environments.

How to paint dolphins in watercolours
Author : Ala Lopatniov, Illustrator & Watercolorist
Subject : Drawing, painting (watercolor)
Type of material distributed : Video lesson
Language : En
Duration : 01:27:09

Description :
What you will learn:
how to draw dolphins with a pencil
how to apply reserve fluid
how to work using the wet-on-wet technique
how to work using the wet-on-dry technique
learn how dolphins’ glare works under and above water
Requirements:
The course is ideal for intermediate level, but beginners can try as I walk you through the entire process;
watercolor paper 200 g/m² or larger;
watercolor paints, I use 36 pans of White Nights, you can use your palette;
watercolor brushes (flat brushes for washing paper, large round brushes for the base, thin round brushes for details);
napkins, hair dryer, washi tape, plain water
This class is dedicated to learning 2 basic techniques in watercolor. You’ll learn how to draw dolphins, how to use a fluid mask, and then how to draw water and dolphins in motion.
During this class you will learn:

  • How to Draw Dolphins with a Pencil – This step is important as it will guide you throughout the process from applying the liquid mask to drawing the water and dolphins
  • How to apply masking fluid and why we use it in our works. Reserve fluid is a kind of rubber cement that can be used to coat individual parts of the paper. This layer will keep the surface free of paint, even if you paint with a lot of water. Masking fluid can be used when you need a clear boundary between the background and the elements on it, or when you need to place small, light details on a dark or colored background.

Since the masking liquid has a texture similar to rubber cement, it glues the pile together. I advise you to wet the brush before starting work and run it over the bar of soap several times to form a protective layer. After this, you can safely get to work! Don’t forget to rinse your brush with warm water immediately after use. Another important point! Make sure your masking fluid is completely dry before you begin painting over watercolors. However, it is necessary to remove its layer only after the watercolor has completely dried.
– How to apply the first washes using the wet-on-wet technique.
The "wet on wet" technique usually involves working in one session, and if you work for several days, then each time you need to wet the sheet again. Glazing allows you to continue painting in watercolors without any preparatory work.
– How to work out details using the "wet on dry" technique to catch the viewer’s eye.
Glazing allows you to make the colors deeper, since watercolor dries several tones lighter. It is important to remember that a new coat of paint should be applied only after the previous one has completely dried. Glazing makes the image more realistic due to the ability to work out the nuances of lighting and volume transfer.
As a result, you will get a beautiful seascape. Please share it with me and the community.
Stages of work
For the drawing you will need a pencil with hardness B or HB, as well as an art eraser. Try not to leave hard lines as the water and watercolor act as a fixative and it will be difficult to erase the lines once you are done painting. In watercolor, if you don’t have all 36 pans, use the colors you have. If you are using any other blue colors like I mentioned, don’t worry. Try to experiment and follow the technique.
1. The first step is drawing. You will need to draw both dolphins and water drops.
2. Next, you will apply the reserve fluid. It will help you maintain white spaces on your paper. Especially for drops in water.
3. You will wet the work and will need to quickly create the base color, as only by working quickly will you get beautiful blue transitions.
4. Once the work is dry, you will intensify the color work, as the wet-on-wet technique leaves a lighter watercolor color after drying.
5. You will need to remove the liquid mask and start working on the dolphins. Both dolphins are naturally gray, but since one is underwater, it will have more blue in its skin. The second one is above the water and has natural light on the skin, making it more colorful and with warmer tones.
6. Last but not least, you will have to adjust the parts. Details are important because they attract the viewer’s attention. Just use the steps I explain along the way and enjoy the process. Good luck!
