McCrum Wodehouse A Life – (MCCRUM ROBERT)

Jedna z powieści o Jeevesie and Bertie. Głównymi bohaterami są młody arystokrata Bertie Wooster oraz jego niezawodny służący Jeeves. Wyidealizowana wizja świata sfer arystokratycznych lat międzywojennych w Wielkiej Brytanii i Stanach Zjednoczonych. Akcja koncentruje się na humorystycznych przygodach dwóch głównych postaci. Wooster jest zmuszony gościć dość nietypowego gościa, za którego odpowiada przed jego mamusią pani Malvern. Gość wplątuje się w kłopoty, które najlepiej, żeby nie wyszły na jaw. Ostatecznie sytuacja zostaje uratowana dzięki subtelnym planom Jeevesa (często realizowanym za plecami pryncypała. Nazwisko Jeevesa, idealnego służącego, stało się w języku angielskim wręcz synonimem pomocnika zdolnego zaradzić każdemu problemowi.

Opis Metody

Książki z serii Frank Books od Mistrzów Brytyjskiego i Amerykańskiego Słowa służą do nauki języka angielskiego za pomocą czytania ciekawych książek w oryginalnym języku bez słownika (w treść jest wplecione polskie tłumaczenie).

Dla kogo? Dla każdego, kto chce się uczyć języka angielskiego, bez względu na dotychczasowy poziom.

Jak to działa? Po prostu czytamy książkę, pogrążając się w zajmującą treść. Cała zawartość jest podzielona na akapity, najpierw czytamy akapit, gdzie po każdym zwrocie podane jest w nawiasach polskie tłumaczenie, następnie ten sam akapit czytamy już bez tłumaczenia, w oryginalnym języku, czyli "płyniemy bez asekuracji". Właśnie wtedy nasz mózg przyzwyczaja się do rozumienia języka obcego. Język oryginału nie jest w żaden sposób uproszczony czy dopasowany do poziomu, tym sposobem posiada wszystkie tak zwane słowne lokalne przyprawy. Pozwala to całkowicie pogrążyć się w zajmujące czytanie i zapomnieć, że uczymy się języka. Nasz mózg w takim stanie rozluźnienia i zaciekawienia zapamiętuje więcej, szybciej i na dłużej. Czytając literaturę piękną, gdy jesteśmy zainteresowani linią wydarzeń i losem bohaterów, zapominamy, że uczymy się języka. Tym sposobem pozbawiamy się barier psychologicznych i emocjonalnych, które często występują w trakcie nauki, a to z kolei otwiera nam olbrzymie zasoby naszej pamięci.
