======
The planet of Azure is nearly idyllic: There is a high standard of living,
industry is booming, and the two races ΓÇö Human and Wrogul ΓÇö get
along well with each other most days.
But underneath it all, there is tension between the races. Despite having
no reason for it, the Humans don’t always trust the Wrogul, and there
is a faction within the Wrogul community that doesn’t want its young
growing up "Human."
When a large group of Wrogul move into the ocean and strange things
begin happening ΓÇö weird lights seen in the depths and sabotage at
the mariculture stations ΓÇö the Human’s distrust becomes outright suspicion
of treachery.
As things spiral out of control, another force enters the system ΓÇö
a group ostensibly sent by the UN on Earth to inspect the crops being
grown on Azure ΓÇö which threatens to destroy everything the Humans
and Wrogul have worked for.
While the Wrogul still intend to do no harm, the Humans have powerful
enemies in the galaxy, and, this time, the Wrogul may have no choice
about whether to join the front lines with their Human friends. Will
the threat of a common enemy break the relationship between the Humans
and Wrogul…or break it not?

Ancient Warfare A Very Short Introduction (Harry Sidebottom)

9780191577970 OUP Oxford 2004

Catergory: Nonfiction, Science & Nature, Technology, Military Science, History, Ancient History

Greek and Roman warfare differed from other cultures and was unlike any other forms of warfare before and after. The key difference is often held to be that the Greeks and Romans practised a ‘Western Way of War’, where the aim is an open, decisive battle, won by courage instilled in part by discipline. Harry Sidebottom looks at how and why this ‘Western Way of War’ was constructed and maintained by the Greeks and Romans, why this concept is so popular and prevalent today, and at whether or not this is an accurate interpretation. All aspects of ancient warfare are thoroughly examined – from philosophy and strategy to the technical skills needed to fight. He looks at war in the wider context – how wars could shape classical society, and how the individual’s identity could be constructed by war, for example the Christian soldier fighting in God’s name. He also explores the ways in which ancient society thought about conflict: Can a war be just? Why was siege warfare particularly bloody? What role did divine intervention play in the outcome of a battle? Taking fascinating examples from the Iliad, Tacitus, and the Persian Wars, Sidebottom uses arresting anecdotes and striking visual images to show that the any understanding of ancient war is an ongoing process of interpretation. Ancient African Religions A History (Robert M. Baum)

9780197747094 Oxford University Press 2024

Catergory: Nonfiction, Religion & Spirituality, Other Practices, Ethnic & Tribal, Reference, History

Scholars have sometimes maintained that the study of the history of African religions is an impossible endeavor. Some have contended that African religions do not have a history unto themselves, apart from their interaction with the newer religious traditions of Islam and Christianity. Others concede that such a history exists, but believe the source materials are insufficient to reconstruct such a history. This book speaks directly to these critics. The history of African religions becomes in many ways like a pentathlon, expecting the scholar who conducts such research to work with written texts, to learn African languages, to live within a community where these religious traditions are practiced, to study material culture, both sacred and mundane, and a variety of archaeological sources from tree rings to stone circles and gravesites. By relying on the existing corpus of written texts, oral traditions, linguistic analyses, descriptions based on participant observation, and various types of archaeology, Robert M. Baum demonstrates that African religious history is nearly as old as humanity itself. Baum has spent his entire academic career focused on the historical study of African religious traditions, as far back as accessible sources will permit. This volume traces the history of African religions beginning with early hominids and their ritual and burial sites through ancient Egypt, North and Northeast Africa, and Africa south of the Sahara from the Fourth Millennium BCE to the birth of Islam in the Seventh Century. Anatomy Of The Spirit The Seven Stages Of Power And Healing [Audiobook] (Caroline Myss)

Sounds True 2025

Catergory: Relationships, Parenting & Personal Development

Building on wisdom from Hindu, Christian, and Kaballah traditions, this comprehensive guide to energy healing reveals the hidden stresses, beliefs, and attitudes that cause illness.
Anatomy of the Spirit is the boldest presentation of energy medicine to date, written by one of its premier practitioners, internationally acclaimed medical intuitive Caroline Myss, who is amongst the "hottest new voices in the alternative health/spirituality scene" (Publishers Weekly). Based on fifteen years of research into energy medicine, Dr. Myss’s work shows how every illness corresponds to a pattern of emotional and psychological stresses, beliefs, and attitudes that have influenced corresponding areas of the human body.
Anatomy of the Spirit also presents Dr. Myss’s breakthrough model of the body’s seven centers of spiritual and physical power, in which she synthesizes the ancient wisdom of three spiritual traditions-the Hindu chakras, the Christian sacraments, and the Kabbalah’s Tree of Life-to demonstrate the seven stages through which everyone must pass in the search for higher consciousness and spiritual maturity. With this model, Dr. Myss shows how you can develop your own latent powers of intuition as you simultaneously cultivate your personal power and spiritual growth.
By teaching you to see your body and spirit in a new way, Anatomy of the Spirit provides you with the tools for spiritual maturity and physical wholeness that will change your life. Click to expand…

Cyrus Barker is undoubtedly England’s premiere private enquiry agent.
With the help of his assistant, Thomas Llewelyn, he’s developed an enviable
reputation for discreetly solving some of the toughest, most consequential
cases in recent history. But one evening in 1888, Robert Anderson, the
head of Scotland Yard’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), appears
at Barker’s office with an offer. A series of murders in the Whitechapel
area of London are turning the city upside down, with tremendous pressure
being brought to bear on Scotland Yard and the government itself. Barker
is to be named temporary envoy to the Royal Family with regard to the
case while surreptitiously bringing his investigative skill to the case.
With various elements of society, high and low, bringing their own agendas
to increasingly shocking murders, Barker and Llewellyn must find and
hunt down the century’s most notorious killer.

Though the Whitechapel Killer has managed to elude the finest minds
of Scotland Yard – and beyond – he’s never faced a mind as nimble and
a man as skilled as Cyrus Barker. But even Barker’s prodigious skills
may not be enough to track down a killer in time.
