The Original WOW Thing was $20 and made cheap speakers sound more spacious and full. It achieved this effect by using radical equalization and some bizarre psychoacoustic processing using delays and phase. It worked, but it was weird and quirky. Definitely NOT a pro-audio device. until a major rock engineer discovered that it did amazing things to guitars when he recorded one of the most influential and successful metal albums on the planet. The WOW Thing became the secret sauce on many iconic albums.

Dan Korneff managed to buy a WOW Thing fifteen years ago and it became a staple of his guitar processing. However, he wanted to use it on background vocals and reverbs, and the original boxes are hard to come by. So he recreated it and now it’s available as a plug-in.

Think of WOW Thing as an acoustic hug: anytime you want a sound to stretch beyond the confines of the normal stereo field, the WOW Thing is the thing.

If you’re looking for freaky Lo-Fi mystery, the WOW Thing is your cheap plastic friend, now in convenient plug-in form.

Add space, bass and chaos
Simple controls make it easy to add spaciousness to your stereo tracks: Just turn up the WOW knob.

Any stereo source fed through the WOW Thing moves out beyond the speakers. At extreme settings, the WOW Thing adds so much psychoacoustic movement and confusion that it can actually make you feel motion sick! It’s that extreme an effect.

TrueBass is a low-frequency enhancement that adds depth and rumble to your tracks. Add just a touch to thicken a sound, or crank it up for unique low-end effects.

Beyond the Original
It wouldn’t be a Korneff Audio plug-in if there weren’t extra things to tweak.

Choose from two different WOW effects. Select TYPE 1 for the sonics of the original tabletop unit, or TYPE 2 for the enhancement algorithms of the obscure SRS Megawide rackmount unit.

A multiband sonic enhancer that has the flavor of tape with none of the downsides. Analog tape emulation reimagined. Low-end saturation and plenty of punch. Magnetic tape is known for imparting warmth and bottom-end girth to a signal. Chocolate Milk does exactly that, using adjustable waveshaping algorithms to give you more control of bottom-end saturation. But it goes beyond that.

Analog tape also clips transients, and that takes away punch and clarity-we didn’t want that. Our Chocolate Milk puts the squeeze on the midrange using a clean compression algorithm with adjustable attack and release to get compression without clipping the signal. With Chocolate Milk you can punch it up like a boss.

In the old days, engineers would tweak tape deck electronics to sweeten the high end. It sounded good, but it was difficult to do and limited. With Chocolate Milk, you can easily get glossy highs, and far more effectively.

The legendary VOX Continental organ is faithfully recreated in software as the VOX Super Continental! Originally conceived in the early 1960s as a more portable and affordable alternative to tonewheel organs, the VOX Continental’s distinctive sound – and its sharp red-and-black design – soon made it a staple of "British Invasion" bands. The Continental’s bright timbre and brash attitude fit perfectly with jangly guitars, and easily cut through the mix on stage and in the studio.

Production stopped around 1970, but a new generation of ska, garage, punk, and new wave bands adopted the instruments in the ’70s and ’80s. Weathered and worn through decades of use, and none-too-stable to begin with, the instruments tend to be charmingly out of tune. As the key contacts aged, each note started to sound slightly different. With this unique voice, a combination of electric tone and vintage character, the Vox Continental is a fixture of stage and studio – particularly in indie music.

The KORG Collection VOX Super Continental plug-in began as a re-creation of a beloved, carefully maintained Super Continental personally owned by the primary software engineer, including such details as the behavior of hundreds of individual key contacts. We then expanded the model to incorporate other features, such as the extremely rare percussion section, in order to get the best possible representation of the Super Continental sound. We’re now proud to present the most accurate VOX Continental software instrument available anywhere!

The VOX Continental’s oscillators are based on unstable germanium transistors. The octave-divider circuits mean that octaves are always pure, but all other intervals can be at least subtly out of tune (and often much more so). Individual notes are made by combining overtones from the drawbars. Each key has up to five key contact wires, one for each drawbar. When each wire hits its drawbar bus, that overtone sounds (often along with a tiny burst of noise). The contacts are usually worn and misaligned after all these years, and so the wires hit the drawbar buses at slightly different times. This lends every note a unique character at note-on and note-off.
All of these imperfections are lovingly modeled, and Calibration controls let you dial in as much or as little of them as you like.

MIDI control
The Mod Matrix (with 30 slots for modulating parameters from MIDI sources) and the MIDI Map lets you directly control drawbars, knobs, and switches from your favorite MIDI controller for programming and automation.

Effects
The VOX Super Continental was almost always played through an amp, so of course we include a selection of amp and cabinet models, along with a stunningly detailed rotary speaker. There are two insert effects before the amp, another insert after it, and finally a dedicated reverb slot. For the inserts you can choose between 30 effects types, including everything from vintage pedals and tape delay to modern reverse delays and shimmer reverb.
