Description: Winx Club: The Magic is Back is steeped in the spirit of the Winx universe. It’s a captivating game with magical battles, puzzles, and a co-op mode. Play as all six members of the Winx Club, each with their own magical abilities.
In short, it’s a very lazy Switch port. There’s practically no customization, no controls, and only gamepads are supported. You can play on a DualSense, but the buttons are still mapped to the gamepad (A – bottom, B – left, X – right, Y – top). The gameplay is very simple, and if not for the lack of localization, even kids could play alone. Run as fairy girls with the left stick, A – ground pound, X – use/simple attack, Y – hold to build up energy, and a simple press transforms into a fairy hovering above the ground. Skip cutscenes by holding B. The first time you transform, you’ll see a 3D cutscene, apparently from a TV series. Everything is explained in detail at the beginning of the game, right down to switching between characters – there are always two of them, so if you have two gamepads lying around, you can apparently play with two people. But if you’re alone, you can switch between them when the game allows. It also seems like you can summon other characters to replace the current ones, but the amount of information dumped on me reached a critical point and I stopped understanding the connections. However, attacks will be needed to take down goblins and big goblins, and apparently there will be new villains later (see the poster). There are also chests; if they open without a key, they require a simple QTE; if with a key, they simply need to be used and, of course, you’ll need the key. The game is 3D, so I’m disappointed to learn where those 2D fairies are that I remember from numerous memes.
