Łączyła ich także żołnierska dola i frontowa przyjaźń. Niby krótka, ale jakże brzemienna w skutkach. Potwierdzam z całym przekonaniem to, co napisałem we wstępie: "Opowieść Alberta Slugockiego o losach Stana, frontowego przyjaciela, jest również kompozycją niedokończoną, bo resztę tajemnic bohater książki zabrał ze sobą do grobu, ale to, co zostawił, co zdążył opowiedzieć swemu przyjacielowi, zapiera dech w piersiach, wyciska łzy z oczu. Dlatego chwała Bogu, że pan Albert zechciał ją w końcu opowiedzieć. Dzięki temu pamięć o Stanie nie zaginie i zostanie przekazana dalszym pokoleniom”.
