Recurse is for unique delays. Without a better explanation; Recurse is a recursive processing audio plugin, where effects can be applied to incoming audio over and over again as time goes on.

At the heart of Recurse is a reorderable multi effect system, where two "Loop" effects determine at which point the incoming signal is sent into an internal delay buffer, and at which point the internal buffer is mixed back into the audio signal.

After 4 years of research & experimentation, the end result is the Impulse Engine, a scalable, multi-algorithm acoustic simulation system that’s capable of any sort of reverb-related job with minimal work; We use it in real-time in our plugins like Eigen & Transfer, and now we are offering a piece of standalone software called. Impulse!

Impulse uses very large (or small) amounts of rays that get cast + processed in different ways to simulate sound propagation. It uses multiple types of ray-casting algorithms to do this, including ray tracing, ray inference, and beam tracing.

Ultimately, it uses these algorithms to generate acoustic impulse responses that you can use anywhere you want!

Every other reverb system just uses simple networks of delays to simulate reverberation in different spaces, some also use impulse responses (IRs) recorded in the real-world to simulate this. Impulse generates IRs out of digital spaces for you to use in convolution reverbs using technologies like ray tracing & acoustic waveguides.
Any space you can imagine, you can now hear.

Standalone Software
We realized very quickly that Impulse would be too much to work with in the constraints of what different plugin formats could offer. You can use it’s computed impulse responses anywhere, though, and our plugin Eigen already has an Impulse-powered rendering system built-in.

Frahm is a multi-spatializer, using force fields. Built on top of a particle-based force field system, Frahm takes the movement of particles that it simulates and treats them as sound sources in three dimensional space. Like Transfer, but controlled indirectly, and with a bunch of sources.

Frahm allows you to select from ten different force-field algorithms, adjust their parameters and even mix two of them together for your desired result.

When multiple instances of Frahm are layered on top of each-other in your DAW, you can create highly intricate soundscapes, all in real time.

Frahm is able to operate it’s spatial engine in multiple different modes depending on your intended application. Binaural for headphone-optimized listening, and stereo for conventional speaker setups.

Oscillators
At its core Sylenth1 houses 4 alias-free unison oscillators, which generate analog shaped waveforms. Each oscillator is capable of producing 8 unison voices in full stereo, adding up to a total of 32 voices per note. With its 16 notes of polyphony this means you can play up to 512 voices simultaneously! The oscillators perform extremely well in both the very low (down to 0.01Hz and below!) and very high (all the way up to half the samplerate) frequency regions without losing their sharpness, liveliness or character. This makes them well suited for all kinds of sounds, from the deepest basses imaginable to the highest crystal clear bells.

Filters
On top of that there are 2 state of the art, pure analog sounding filter sections. Each of these consists of 4 filter stages with nonlinear saturation incorporated, in order to emulate the warmth and drive of a real analog filter. The resonance control can be turned up to a level way beyond self-oscillation and combined with the drive control this makes it possible to let the filters SCREAM! Where a lot of digital filters sound like they’re made out of cheap plastic, these filters sound rock-solid, warm and raw.
