Description:

Eighteen-year-old Harrison Haddon has grown up alone. Surrounded by wealth, nannies, and material things, all he craves is the approval of his father. Sent away to the boarding school his father and grandfather attended, it’s assumed he will follow in their footsteps from Sydney’s prestigious Ivy League school straight into medical school.

But Harrison doesn’t want to be a doctor.

He dreams of music and classical piano. His only true happiness, his escape from the world expected of him, is dismissed by his intolerant and emotionally detached parents.

Levi Aston arrives from London for a three-month student exchange program. Free-spirited and confident in who he is and what he wants to do with his life, Levi convinces Harrison not give up on his dreams.

But convincing Harrison not to give up on his family might not be so easy.

Description:

Title: The Horror Stories of Robert E. Howard
Author: Robert E. Howard
Language: angielski
Year: 2008
Subjects: N/A
Publisher: Wydawnictwo: Del Rey
ISBN: 9780345490209
Total pages: 540

Description:

Robert E. Howard, renowned creator of Conan the Barbarian, was also a master at conjuring tales of hair-raising horror. In a career spanning only twelve years, Howard wrote more than a hundred stories, with his most celebrated work appearing in Weird Tales, the preeminent pulp magazine of the era.

Here are Howard’s greatest horror tales, all in their original, definitive versions. Some of Howard’s best-known characters – Solomon Kane, Bran Mak Morn, and sailor Steve Costigan among them – roam the forbidding locales of the author’s fevered imagination, from the swamps and bayous of the Deep South to the fiend-haunted woods outside Paris to remote jungles in Africa.

The collection includes Howard’s masterpiece Pigeons from Hell, which Stephen King calls "one of the finest horror stories of [the twentieth] century," a tale of two travelers who stumble upon the ruins of a Southern plantation – and into the maw of its fatal secret. In Black Canaan even the best warrior has little chance of taking down the evil voodoo man with unholy powers – and none at all against his wily mistress, the diabolical High Priestess of Damballah. In these and other lavishly illustrated classics, such as the revenge nightmare Worms of the Earth and The Cairn on the Headland, Howard spins tales of unrelenting terror, the legacy of one of the world’s great masters of the macabre.

A guide to conquering burnout and increasing your energy from a leading medical doctor and nutrition expert

EXHAUSTION DOESN’T HAVE TO BE YOUR NEW NORMAL

Does it feel like your life is too busy, your days are too short, and you’re feeling overworked, overstressed, and overtired? Chances are you’ve asked your doctor for help, only to be told that it’s because of your age, or your workload, or, worse, that it’s just “normal.”

If so, you’re not alone. Women of all ages are suffering from an epidemic of fatigue and burnout. But exhaustion doesn’t have to be your new normal. Inspired by her personal wellness journey, integrative medical doctor Amy Shah has created this program so that you can regain your energy and reclaim your life.

The key is tapping into the powerful energy trifecta: the complex relationship between your gut, your immune system, and your hormones. Drawing on the latest science and her work helping thousands of clients, Dr. Shah explains how to transform your life by changing:

What You Eat: Increase your vegetable intake and sip Dr. Shah’s hormone-balance tea recipe to tamp down inflammation and heal your gut, without giving up your wine and chocolate!
When You Eat: Changing when you eat and practicing intermittent fasting-the right way-will help you feel energized all day long.
How you manage stress: Simple, stress-busting exercises and herbs like Ashwagandha and Amla berry help calm the Adrenal system and ease anxiety.

In just two weeks, you’ll feel your energy surge. In three months, you’ll feel like a whole new person. It’s time to regain the energy you’ve lost, so you can get back to the life you want to live.

The Wealth of Nations, first published in 1776, is the founding text of modern economics. But as our interviews with experts below make clear, its author, Adam Smith, was a moral philosopher and no unabashed cheerleader for the capitalist system he saw flourishing around him in Glasgow, a city grown rich from trade with the American colonies.

Description:

Title: Hannah Khalil: Plays of Arabic Heritage
Author: Hannah Khalil
Language: angielski
Year: 2021
Subjects: N/A
Publisher: Wydawnictwo: Bloomsbury Methuen Drama
ISBN: 9781350242197
Total pages: 336

Description:

This is the first ever collection of plays by Palestinian-Irish playwright Hannah Khalil; the first woman of Arab heritage to have a main-stage play at the RSC. It encompasses a decade’s worth of plays exploring her Arab heritage, drawing on family histories as well as significant events in the Arab World. They were all written during a period that included the end of the war in Iraq, the intensification of the occupation of Palestine and the birth and disillusion of the so called Arab Spring.

The plays included are set in both a historical and modern context. They include a feminist take on 1001 nights and the Scheherazade story; an exploration of Gertrude Bell, the Museum in Baghdad and Britain’s role in the birth of the Iraq; plus two plays looking at the Palestinian experience, one based on a family living through the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, the other an epic collage that moves in time from 1948 to present day. This anthology also includes a radio play set in Dubai and a monologue about the power and legacy of artefacts.

It’s notable that these plays offer a plethora of non-stereotypical roles for actors of Arab heritage. Through the six plays included the reader can trace a variety of approaches to storytelling, a host of memorable characters and some unforgettable stories.

Plays include:

Plan D
Scenes from 73* Years
A Negotiation
Museum in Baghdad
Last of the Pearl Fishers
Hakawatis
