Multi-agent systems are special networked systems full of research interest and practical sense, which are abundant in real life, ranging from mobile robot networks, intelligent transportation management, to multiple spacecraft, surveillance and monitoring. Consensus control is one of the most typical and hot research issues for multi-agent systems. Distributed Adaptive Consensus Control of Uncertain Multi-agent Systems provides innovative technologies to design and analyze distributed adaptive consensus for multi-agent systems with model uncertainties. Based on the basic graph theory and adaptive backstepping control, this monograph:
· Describes the state of the art on distributed adaptive control, finite-time consensus control and event-triggered consensus control
· Studies distributed adaptive consensus under directed communication graph condition: the methods with linearly parametric reference, hierarchical decomposition, and design of auxiliary filers
· Explores adaptive finite-time consensus for uncertain nonlinear systems
· Considers distributed adaptive consensus with event-triggered communication via state feedback and output feedback
· Investigates distributed adaptive formation control of nonholonomic mobile robots with experimental verification
· Provides distributed adaptive attitude synchronization control schemes for multiple spacecraft with event-triggered communication
Distributed Adaptive Consensus Control of Uncertain Multi-agent Systems can help engineering students and professionals to efficiently learn distributed adaptive control design tool for handling uncertain multi-agent systems with directed communication graph, guaranteeing finite-time convergence and saving communication resources.

Description:

Fatigue failure of engineering materials and structures has long been a great challenge for structural integrity, reliability and safety in mechanical, civil and aerospace engineering. These failure mechanisms and their modeling are critical concerns for managing aging structures, and directly affect sustainability across society.
In this context, the fundamental theories and methods of fatigue failure of engineering materials and structures are discussed in detail. Fatigue damage accumulation, crack initiation and crack growth analysis are presented from materials to structures, deterministic to probabilistic fatigue, physics to data science, uniaxial to multiaxial fatigue, and extremely low cycle fatigue to very high cycle fatigue. The focus is on mechanical understanding and risk management for design, maintenance, and operation.
Some recent advancements include fatigue of additive manufactured (AM) metals and advanced materials, which could potentially transform fatigue analysis and offer new perspectives on fatigue failure mechanisms and reliability design. Both experimental supporting evidence and simulation benefits are demonstrated. It integrates recent developments in artificial intelligence with fatigue in AM metals and advanced materials. It provides case studies, and future research challenges for the fusion of fatigue physics modeling with data analytics, for graduate students and advanced practitioners.

Description:

This book provides a concise and in-depth exposition of distributed control and optimization problems of multi-agent systems. The book integrates various ideas and tools from dynamic systems, control theory, graph theory, and optimization to address the special challenges posed by such complexities in the environment as communication delay, topological dynamics, and environmental uncertainties. In order to deal with the mismatched uncertainties and time delay, observer-based controller and sliding mode control are developed to achieve consensus control. When there is a leader or multiple leaders in the communication topologies, containment control is required. The book studies both state and output containment for nonlinear multi-agent systems with undirected or directed networks. Furthermore, event-triggered schemes are proposed to reduce communication and computation costs. Distributed optimization for multi-agent systems is an interesting topic that has attracted more and more attention due to its wide range of applications such as smart grids, sensor networks, and mobile manipulators. In distributed optimization, the goal is to optimize the global cost function, which is the sum of all local cost functions, each of which is known only by its own local agent. Distributed nonsmooth convex optimization for multi-agent systems based on proximal operators is developed to achieve distributed optimal consensus.

Description:

The rarely heard stories of the brave African American women at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement.

Sisters in the Struggle tells the stories and documents the contributions of African American women to the most important social reform in the United States in the twentieth century. Only recently have historians and other researchers begun to recognize black women’s central role in the battle for racial and gender equality.

These essays describe the early ideological development of Ella Baker, who helped found the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in 1960; Fannie Lou Hamer’s use of personal anguish to mold her public persona; and Septima Clark’s creation of a network of "Citizenship Schools" to teach poor black southerners to read and write to help them register to vote. We learn of black women’s activism in the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, the Black Panther Party, and the Free Joan Little Movement in the 1970s. It also includes personal testimonies from women who made headlines with their courageous resistance to racism and sexism-Rosa Parks, Charlayne Hunter Gault, and Dorothy Height.

Sisters in the Struggle presents a detailed analysis of the multifaceted roles played by women in civil rights and Black Power organizations, as well as the major political parties at the local, state, and national levels, while documenting the formation of a distinct black feminist consciousness. It represents the coming of age of African American women’s history and presents new studies that point the way to future research and analysis.

Accompanied by strangers in pursuit of the same outlaws, Daisy takes to the Colorado plains with an old revolver and a hunger for revenge. But the Hopkins gang isn’t easily found, and as their pockets run dry and the trail goes cold, Daisy and her companions may be at the end of the road. She must learn how to survive in this dangerous world of outlaws and gunslingers, or her only chance at avenging her family may be lost.

Kraków, lata 50. XX wieku.
