Description:

This book discusses larger signal amplifiers (denoted as PA). Large signal amplifiers are dealing with signals whose magnitude is such that the operation of the active element can no longer be considered linear. They are usually designed to get as much power gain and efficiency as possible. That is why they are often called power amplifiers. In this book, two implementations of PA are considered. First, it is of interest to obtain large signals (current or voltage) at the output of a cascade of direct coupled amplifiers. In this case, linearity, frequency response, and speed are the most important requirements. Second are real power amplifiers where the power delivered to the load is of primary interest. Of course, efficiency, linearity, and high frequency response are of interest, too. A very special attention is paid to modern power electronic components such as Power BJT, VDMOS, IGBT, SiC MOS, and GaN HEMT. DC and switching properties of all these devices are studied in much detail. This book also includes a set of appendices which cover: solved problems, SPICE simulation results for selected set of circuits, and a short review of microelectronic technology process

The book opens a magic miniature world of electronics to the reader. The book addresses what small means in terms of electronics and what clean means in terms of modern electronic technology. Consequently, the reader understands why the most advanced civilization of the ancient world – the Egyptians – was not capable to do electronics. The book also discusses functionalities of the low-voltage electronic components with the aim to implement them in electronic circuit design. At the same time, it also opens the space of electronic component design to the readers be it discrete or integrated. The book has an introduction section, 11 chapters, an appendix, index, and list of literature. Appendix A discusses a set of solved problems, Appendix B presents SPICE simulation examples, and Appendix C presents component numbering in marketing environment.

Description:

This book discusses synthesis of Gm-C filter for modern radio frequency systems. Analogue filters are an inevitable part of the chain of signal processing in modern radio and telecommunication systems. Among the technologies implemented for these purposes are the so-called Gm-C filters which are built of operational transconductance amplifiers and capacitors. This technology allows for integration of the filter into a CMOS system-on-chip so making it very attractive for application in low-power (battery operated) devices. The objective of this book is to achieve three goals: (1) to fully describe the circuit synthesis procedures for parallel, cascade, and a realization based on LC prototypes; (2) to make a thorough evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of these methods and to recommend the “preferable” one; and (3) to create an extensive table of element values of cascaded Gm-C filters realizing the best-known low-pass filter functions. The book will influence the design community to embrace this technology even for non-communication applications.

Annual Conferences in Analytic and Algebraic Geometry have been organized by Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Łódź since 1980. Until now, proceedings of these conferences (mainly in Polish) have comprised educational materials describing current state of a branch of mathematics, new approaches to known topics, and new proofs of known results (http://konfrogi.math.uni.lodz.pl/).
The volume include new results and survey articles concerning real and complex alge-braic geometry, singularities of curves and hypersurfaces, invariants of singularities (the Milnor number, degree of C0-sufficiency),algebraic theory of derivations and others topics.
English translation of the Polish version of an article by Stanisław Łojasiewicz (1926-2002) devoted to the famous Hironaka theorem on resolution of singularities. It contains his original approach to the problem in the case of curves and coherent analytic sheaves on 2-dimensional manifolds. This interesting article has not yet been available in English.
The volume is dedicated to the memory of Stanisław Łojasiewicz. We are deeply indebt-ed to him for introducing the topics of analytic and algebraic geometry in the Łódź mathematical centre.

Description:

In traditional Internet of Things (IoT) systems, sensor nodes are usually powered by batteries, and their limited battery power leads to limited system lifetimes and prevents the large-scale promotion of IoT; this is commonly referred to as the energy bottleneck. The subsequent emergence of Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) technology enables IoT nodes to replenish their energy through wireless charging, giving rise to the novel network paradigm of Wireless Rechargeable Sensor Networks (WRSNs). This has made it possible to solve the IoT energy bottleneck and extend IoT system lifetimes.
This book elaborates on the theory and technical paradigms of WRSNs. The topics discussed include the energy efficiency, schedulability and reliability of WRSNs, as well as their potential intersections with other fields. Specifically, this book 1) proposes the theory of optimal scheduling of spatio-temporal correlation power supply for large-scale WRSNs; 2) analyses in depth the shortcomings and hidden risks of existing WRSN hardware and protocols, and proposes the concept of charging attack and the theory of trusted scheduling; and 3) introduces a radio electromagnetic signal propagation model into the design of charging deployment methods in complex environments, revealing a new dimension of charging efficiency optimization.
The methods described here will lay the theoretical foundation for extending WRSN lifetimes and provide a new theoretical model for WRSN security and reliability, accelerating the development of these networks from multiple perspectives.
