Furskin Processing is concerned with the art and science of furskin processing, from dressing to dyeing and bleaching, finishing, and sheepskin processing. A definition of terms is included. This book consists of eight chapters; the first of which provides a historical background of the dressing and dyeing of furskins and the evolution of fur trade. The reader is then introduced to raw materials used in furskin processing, including animal fibers, keratin, and collagen. The pigmentation, quality, and properties of the pelt or leather side of the furskin are also discussed, along with the effects of singe and shedding on furskin quality and seasonal changes in furskins. The next chapter describes the main sources of the many species of furskin, together with other details important to the dresser and dyer. This book explains as well the methods used in dressing, dyeing, and bleaching of furskin, as well as the final presentation of the dressed or dyed furskin. The final chapter considers the techniques used in the dressing and dyeing of sheepskin. This book is intended primarily for chemists, ""practical"" dressers and dyers, and other members of the fur trade.

Description:

Nature spent millions of years forging genetic code so that you could be strong, fit and healthy throughout your life. Yet, when we look around, we see an epidemic of obesity, auto-immune diseases, young people with diabetes and people succumbing to heart disease in early middle age. Why?
Though “nature versus nurture" has long been at the heart of debates concerning psychology and sociology, it is only in the past few years that idea of conforming our diet and exercise to our genome has gained traction. And it is precisely this idea that holds the key to unlocking your potential to be happier, healthier and more fit than most can imagine is possible.
Why didn’t our Paleolithic forebears suffer from tooth decay at all, yet dentists offices must now be ubiquitous in our society? Why is it that middle-aged men who are gobbling whole grains by the bushel and eating tofu to banish meat from their diets are still requiring expensive life-time statin drug prescriptions to control their cholesterol? The Modern Caveman Diet tries to answer these questions, describing an evolutionarily healthful lifestyle of diet, living patterns and exercise that are easily adopted and maintained throughout life. Are you ready to fulfill the true destiny that nature has given you? The Modern Caveman Diet holds the answer to achieving and maintaining a great body, strength, energy and active wellness right into a healthy old-age with dramatically decreased risks of “diseases of civilization."

Updated and enhanced information on the most recent topics added to the Pony Club curriculum This C Level manual builds on material covered in The United States Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship: Basics for Beginners/D Level. Whether you’re a Pony Clubber who has passed the D Level tests or simply a rider who has mastered the same basics, this manual enables you to increase your skills and teach you what you need to know in order to rise independently and correctly with good position, balance, and use of the aids on the flat, over fences, and in the open.
At the intermediate level you’re expected to take more responsibility for the care and management of your pony, and you’ll learn how to do this as well. In addition, you’ll learn the skills needed for conditioning and preparing your pony and yourself for competitions and special events.

  • New and revised coverage of land conservation and horse health and safety
  • Better organization to ease reference
  • A full review and update of critical developments in riding, instruction, and competition
  • In-depth revision of nutrition and veterinary topics, the two areas in which there has been the most significant research and development over the past two decades

From the C Level, you may go on to higher Pony Club ratings such as B, H, A, or A Ratings, or specialize in such disciplines as dressage, show jumping, eventing, and showing. Or you may just want to have the pleasure of caring your horse or pony and participating in your favorite riding activities. Either way, The United States Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship: Intermediate Horsemanship/C Level will give you an excellent basis in horsemanship for the lifelong enjoyment of horses and horse sports.

Description:

Klaus Bockmuehl (1931-1989), former Professor for Systematic Theology at Regent College, Vancouver, published outstanding theological ethical works. The questions that Bockmuehl explored have not lost any relevance: How do we know what God’s will is in a particular situation? Is Scripture sufficient for ethical decisions or should we listen to God? Does God even speak today? Is there a distinctive Christian ethic? Bockmuehl’s central contribution can be found in his emphasis on the seminal role the Holy Spirit plays within Christian ethics, not only as the one who realizes the reign of God in the life of the individual but also as the one guiding the individual in a particular situation. This book is the first in-depth study of Bockmuehl, introducing readers to his theology and ethics, including a short biographical overview, delineating and appraising how he understands the role of the Holy Spirit in Christian ethics. It is not a book without criticism and its own creative contribution. Annette Glaw concludes her fascinating study with a proposal for a relational concept of the Holy Spirit as the loving presence of God in Christian ethics.
