Title: The Collected Poems: with parallel Greek text
Author: Konstandinos Kawafis
Language: angielski
Year: 2009
Subjects: N/A
Publisher: Wydawnictwo: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 9780199555956
Total pages: 187

Description:

Cavafy is the most widely known and best loved modern Greek poet. This volume presents the most authentic Greek text of the 154 authorized poems ever published, with a new English translation that faithfully conveys the rhythms and the Greek accent of Cavafy’s individual voice.
The only bilingual edition of the collected poems currently available.
The Greek text is the first to be based wherever possible on Cavafy’s own final printings of his poems and is the most authentic Greek text ever to be published.
The English translation by Evangelos Sachperoglou preserves Cavafy’s tone of voice and the rhythms of his poetry and is more faithful to the original than most other translations.
The Introduction is the most comprehensive ever published to accompany an edition of the poems, and dicusses their themes and the literary and historical context. Explanatory Notes gloss Greek historical names and historical events alluded to in the poems. A Chronological List of Poems provides a helpful guide to composition history and there are indexes of Greek and English titles.

Description:

Hiperpodróż autora Głodu śladami wykluczenia, biedy i cierpienia.

Martín Caparrós na zlecenie Organizacji Narodów Zjednoczonych ma w krótkim czasie odwiedzić kilkanaście miejsc na świecie. W każdym z nich spotyka się z ludźmi naznaczonymi migracją. To ofiary wykluczenia i wojen. Zadaniem argentyńskiego dziennikarza jest spisanie przeprowadzonych rozmów i nadanie im formy obiektywnych reportaży.

Coś jednak każe reporterowi postępować niezgodnie z narzuconymi odgórnie instrukcjami.

Kiszyniów w Mołdawii. Natalia przeszła piekło. Jej mąż sprzedał ją albańskim handlarzom żywym towarem. Trafiła do domu publicznego w Libanie. Udało jej się uciec, teraz próbuje zapomnieć.

Monrovia w Liberii.

Author: Rupert Snell
Language: angielski
Year: 2003
Subjects: N/A
Publisher: Wydawnictwo: Teach Yourself
ISBN: 9780340866870
Total pages: 86

Description:

This is a complete course in understanding, speaking and writing Hindi, the language spoken by over 275 million people throughout the world. If you are a beginner, or if your Hindi just needs brushing up, this course will progress quickly beyond the basics to a level where you can communicate with confidence. The course has proved effective as teaching material for both class tuition and individual study.

The Hindi presented in the course is primarily colloquial and practical. An advantage of this approach is that it gives greater access to Urdu, Hindi’s sister language. Hindi and Urdu share a virtually identical grammar and much of their vocabulary.

The course is divided into 18 units, each of which is based on dialogues which exemplify and bring to life the new grammar introduced in that particular unit. Transliteration in the roman script is provided for the first five units and for all words in the Hindi-English glossary. The dialogues form a kind of soap opera based on the life of a Delhi family; the English translations are deliberately close and literal, so as to form a key to the Hindi. The grammatical explanations are intended to be as accessible and non-technical as possible. The main grammatical structures of Hindi are all presented. There are plenty of exercises for you to practise every new point and a key at the back so that you can check your answers.

The book is accompanied by 2 cassettes (0 340 86688 8) or 2 CDs (0 340 91383 5) containing approximately 2 hours of listening material. The audio can be purchased on its own or as packs with the book (book/cassette pack: 0 340 86686 1; book/CD pack: 0 340 91382 7).
