What’s new in CAMWorks ShopFloor 2020 SP3.0

Option to view Setup Sheets in Additional Formats from CAMWorks ShopFloor 2020 SP3 version.

From CAMWorks ShopFloor 2020 SP3 version onwards, Setup Sheets can be viewed in the following formats:

  • XML (Will be displayed in Web browser)
  • Word doc (Will be displayed in default Word Processing Software application)
  • Excel file (Will be displayed in default Spreadsheet Processing Software application)
  • .SET (Will be displayed in default Text Editor application)

Use the Open Setup Sheet dropdown list within Options group box present in the Settings dialog box user interface to select the format in which the Setup Sheet is to be viewed.

Style Sheet Settings for Setup Sheets
ShopFloor files are published using the CAMWorks ShopFloor Publisherdialog box available within the CAMWorks application. The CAMWorks ShopFloor Publisher dialog box contains default style sheet settings for Setup Sheets. These style sheet settings can be edited to assign a style sheet file of your choice. The format and layout of a Setup Sheet can be modified by customizing the style sheet file to suit your requirements and then assigning the style sheet file to the ShopFloor file to be published.
For Word doc, Excel file and XML-based Setup Sheets displayed on executing the Setup Sheet command from the CAMWorks Ribbon bar, the layout and formatting of the Setup Sheet will be based on the HTML style sheet (*.xslt) assigned to the ShopFloor file during its publishing.

CAMWorks ShopFloor is a newly introduced application in the CAMWorks suite of software products. CAMWorks ShopFloor is an independent standalone application. It serves as a collaboration tool between CAM Programmers (who use the CAMWorks application to generate CAM data for part models and/or assemblies to be machined) and the Machine ShopFloor (where actual machining of the concerned part models/assemblies take place).

CAMWorks ShopFloor is designed to help accelerate the transition to digital manufacturing and to boost manufacturing efficiency by allowing the shop floor to view programmed parts and associated manufacturing data digitally.

CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing)Works is a module for creating control programs for CNC machines. Programming milling, turning, turning-milling and wire erosion machining using the CAMWorks module.

  • The CAMWorks module allows you to create programs for milling, turning, turn-milling and wire EDM. The following machine types are supported: Milling with simultaneous control of two to five axes;
  • Single- and dual-spindle turning, with one or two carriages, with software-controlled auxiliary mechanisms (tailstocks, steady rests, parts catchers, etc.);
  • Single- and dual-spindle turning and milling, with one or two carriages, with software-controlled auxiliary mechanisms, with simultaneous control of two to five axes;
  • Two- and four-axis EDM.

The machining is carried out directly in the Solid Edge environment and directly according to the Solid Edge model. The results of the programmer’s work are saved in the same Solid Edge part or assembly model. This ensures full associativity of the model and tool paths, which leads to automatic updating of all tool paths when changes are made to the model. When adding any process data to the Solid Edge model, such as roughness designations, bases, shape and surface location tolerances, dimensional tolerances, the process programmer always has direct access to them, which facilitates the selection of the part basing scheme on the machine and the selection of the tool and cutting modes necessary to ensure the specified quality of the part. The part can be easily adapted to the needs of machining by, for example, eliminating unnecessary geometric elements from the point of view of machining or by recalculating the executive dimensions of the model to the middle of the tolerance field. In the Solid Edge assembly mode, you can perform joint processing of several parts, program the processing of a series of parts, or simply completely simulate the entire real situation on the machine table – all equipment, a workpiece of any complexity, and so on – for the most complete consideration of the processing realities already at the earliest stages of program creation.

Feature-based machining reduces programming time by as much as 90% compared to traditional profiles, and chains based 3 axis CAM software because strategies for multi-surface features can be stored and reused automatically for multiple rough and finishing operations.
